When I was a kid, my favorite trading cards of all was a set called YOU’LL DIE LAUGHING. For five cents you got five or six cards and a stick of pink gum. My attraction to these cards was two-fold; they featured classic monsters of the Universal variety and were illustrated by Jack Davis. The front of the card featured a full color panel with a “gag” caption beneath. They were watered down Charles Addams or Gahan Wilson ideas but the art was fantastic. And the one with the monster sitting on the phone (seen below) honestly cracked me up when I was a kid. The backs featured really awful jokes that weren’t even in any kind of monster theme.
